Identity Series Lesson #2
Overview - We watched Name #18 in the Nooma Series. As Rob Bell is talking the background are people wearing t-shirts that have written in white print things that label them such as: out-going, lonely, apathetic and so on. It ends with them down to one shirt and all of them had a BIG problem such as HIV+, annorexic, addict, and one more i can't remember. We then talk out of Psalm 139 about how God made us perfect even though sometimes we don't feel that way. Then I asked everyone to close their eyes and I asked them questions like how many of you feel alone, how many of you don't feel loved, how many of you feel like you can't please your parents and so on.
Did it make a visable impression? All in all I think it made an impression. It was a little on the boring side for a kid who has probably never been in church, but i wanted to drive home the made perfect point.
Attendance - We had 11, a normal number for us, BUT 3 of the students were NEW!! So that is exciting!

Holding Youth Camp Papers while students yell profanity
So like most Youth Pastors I try really hard to get to sporting events. Yest like most Tuesdays I try to get to our JV softball games. I did so, but afterwards 3 of my students who are softball players and cussing and fussing to me and to their parents and almost get into a fight with a female soccer player from their school. I could not believe it (well who am I kidding I was those girls in High School, ha!) So picture this... I am standing there holding Youth Camp forms to give to the parents and ALL 3 of my students and yelling profanity and threatening to throw punches if the other girl "trys anything." Well you are right I felt like the best Youth Pastor on the planet. I must also interject and say that these girls have never come to youth and have only been to church twice. Man I hope they can have that much passion about the Word and God as they did after that softball game.
