So this past Wed. I bought candy and taped verses to them and we went around in a circle people pulling out verses and everyone looking them up and then we discussed each one. Amazing how God gives us so much clarity through simple things. We then broke up into small groups, but it the girls only had one group so it wasn't that small. I wish my volunteers weren't involved in so much other stuff in the church.
Sometimes I feel like I am the youth pastor at 2 churches. My dad's church is 11 miles down the road from mine and even though they are looking for a youth pastor I get called to help when a student needs someone to talk to. I love this so much, but I'm not called to be their youth minister someone else is... and to my dislike it's not Josh and Nicole. Even though I wish it was to bring some familularity to this place that I never lived in and feels so foreign.
I've had the book "The Sacred Way" for a while and haven't touched it till now... I LOVE IT! So awesome! Go read it!

3 Wednesdays Plus a little extra!
So I haven't updated in a couple of weeks...
Wednesday Night April 30th was a free night. The adults and children had "Children Fun Night" So I gave my youth the night off, basically. They were allowed in the youth room, my office and outside on the playground. And yes all 11 of our students chose the playground! The next week I was on Vacation and my students missed me, lol! I had a Volunteer speak who was actually the acting youth person before I was brought on board. Some of the students thought he said that all sins are not equal and they got up in arms. Then Suicide was brought up by a student who's uncle commited sucide and they got on that topic with out knowing a new kid in the room has had 3 family members do the same before he was born. The problem with this was that the new student's mom was in the hall becoming enraged and pulled her son out of youth. Well by the time I heard all of this on Thursday I felt as though there was nothing I could do, but I gave the female volunteer who was in the room and who had already formed a slight relationship with the mom their phone number SO we hope to see them back soon!!
On to Last night. Since I felt like I was needing to do some damage control I baked some Fun Fetti cup cakes! haha I know I'm such a girl! BUT we had youth totally different and they thought it was a free night when ministry actually took place! For the first couple of minutes I talked about getting all their junk in for camp. Then we broke off into small groups (first time!) They were only suppose to be in them for 15-20 minutes, but they all lasted longer than that which is awesome. The leaders just needed to ask how the students week was and then pray for them! I'm excited to see where this takes us! Of course the girls talked more than the boys, but I don't care about that... because at least they have someone to talk to now!
So here is the little extra! One of my girls is having a major teenage crisis, but add it to a life crisis she feels like her whole world is crashing down on her. So here it is. Her relationship is about to end with her boyfriend of two years. She has MAJOR test anxiety and the state's standardize tests are coming up this week. PLUS to top it off her dad is dying of terminal cancer. Some weeks he's even to weak to take cemo. So pray for her!
