Titus 2:3-5 Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers or slaves to much wine. They are to teach what is good, and so train the young women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled, pure, working at home, kind, and submissive to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be reviled. (ASV)
We're only going to talk about certain chunks of this verse for space sake! So, here we go! When discussing WOMEN what comes to mind? For me it's their caddiness. Women and girls talk about people like crazy! Notice here in Titus that it says to NOT be slanderers... aka don't be a gossip! The only time someones name should be coming out of your mouth are for good things! We hate it when people talk about us but we will gladly tell all we know about someone else! Don't play, you know it's true!
1 Timothy 2:9-10 "And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women who claim to be devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do."
MODESTY... Yup I said it! The word modesty has gotten away from our culture. My Music Minister here at Eastside said to me, "if you touch the sky touch your toes and nothing shows then you are good to go!" That is so true! These verses are saying that people shouldn't look at you for what you have on, but for what you do for Jesus. Maya Angelou said "A woman's heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her." If a girl is clothed in modesty and Jesus then guys would know to pursue her through a personal relationship with Jesus!
Through this Moral Boundaries series what I really want you to understand fully is that no matter what, God must be first! If God is first then your boundaries won't be crossed and God will be not only the center of your life, but the center of your relationships. I'm not saying things won't be hard... they will! Through Christ we know we are not alone, but we are able to get through more because of HIM!
